Yakuake is a Quake-style terminal emulator based on KDE Konsole technology which makes the console more user friendly. If you need the ability to quickly pull down a console to run a few commands with a keystroke, and then make the console disappear again with another quick keystroke. YaKuake is exactly what you are looking for.

The interface is highly customizable, you can adjust the height, the width, the horizontal position you can change the keyboard shortcuts and make it retract automatically when it looses focus.

It uses the same terminal settings as Konsole and like Konsole it has multiple tabs so you can have more terminals running at the same time. If you exit KDE while YaKuake is still running in the background, it’ll start up automatically when you log back into KDE.

YaKuake is a very simple application, but it’s also very useful. I use it all the time when I want quick access to a terminal to run one or two commands, such as doing an apt-get update; apt-get upgrade, checking a man page to find the proper syntax for a command, or moving a few files around.

Force Idle Status on Google Talk

We all love chatting. Google Talk gives us freedom to talk anywhere and anytime wiht our online friends. Message them instantaneously, transfer files, share photos - we love it all.
But what we don't like is getting disturbed by some unwanted friend. We really don't want to chat at that moment but we are forced for maintaining relations.

Can we trick Google Talk? Can we show idle status and be active at the same time?

The best way to keep unwanted friends away is to be invisible or keeping our status idle.Google talk has no provision of invisible status(however you can always choose invisible status in gmail embedded chat)

Idle status in gtalk means you aren't using the feature for last 15 minutes.Being idle is more advantageous than it may seem. You can always make excuses to your colleagues. Didn't you saw the idle status - I was having lunch, I was watching movie, - I was not in my chair, - My brother was playing some stupid game etc.

So far as many people know, you can't make your status idle. Its an automatic update which ticks after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Enabling the desktop cube in Ubuntu

To make Ubuntu more attractive to the end user, the Ubuntu developers have included some eye-candy 'desktop effects' with the recent versions of Ubuntu. These are actually done with external plugins, such as the Expo plugin. Ubuntu comes with some pre-installed visual effect plugins but only a few of them are active by default. A one feature that most people ask for but seems not available is the Desktop Cube. The Cube is also already installed but not enabled. This article will guide you to manage the plugins and enable the cube.

In this article I assume,
That you have a working Internet connection.
That you have a faster graphics card with at leaset 64 MB of memory.

We need to follow the steps below.

Install CompizConfig Settings Manager
Enable the Desktop Cube
Using the Desktop Cube
Configure Desktop Cube

Install CompizConfig Settings Manager

These plugins I mensioned are actually components of a software package caled Compiz Fusion. By default, the configuration tool for Compiz Fusion does not come with Hardy. So the first thing we need is to install that configuration tool. This tool is called CompiConfig Settings Manager.
To install, type the following command in the Terminal.

sudo apt-get install compizconfig-settings-manager

Press y and then press Enter when it asks to confirm installation. Exit the terminal after you have successfully installed the Settings Manager.

Enable the Desktop Cube

First, you need to enable the desktop effects if you have not done so. To do this, go to the System menu and then Preferences --> Appearance. Click on the Visual Effecs tab. Select the Normal option or the Extra option. Then close the window.
However if it displays a message saying 'Desktop effects could not be enabled.' that means your graphics card is not supported or video memory is not enough.

Now we are going to use the CompizConfig Settings Manager to enable the Cube. To start CompizConfig Settings Manager, go to the System menu and then Preferences --> Advanced Desktop Effects. That is the CompizConfig Settings Manager.
On the left side pane, under the Filter, type cube.
Cube and related plugins will appear on the other side. To enable, just mark the check box in front of each you prefer. When enabling Desktop Cube, it may ask to disable Desktop Wall (or something like that). To avoid collisions between plugins, it is necessary to disable the Desktop Wall. So disable the desktop Wall and enable the Desktop Cube.
Now you have successfuly enabled the Cube.

Using the Desktop Cube

To see whether all are working properly, press Ctrl + Alt + -> or Ctrl + Alt + <- to rotate the Cube.

Configure Desktop Cube

In the CompizConfig Settings Manager, if you click on the plugin name instead of the check box, you can configure the plugin as you prefer. For example, the key bidings to enable/ disable plugin, effect appearance and etc.
After you finished working with CompizConfig Settings Manager, close it.

Here are some Windows keyboard tricks you can use to impress your friends! These are nothing but less known features of the Windows XP operating system. To revert back the screen to previous state, repeat the key combination again.

Trick 1 (High Contrast) - Hold Shift, Alt and Print Screen keys together. Click on “OK” when a message appears (this enables high contrast on Windows system). The screen should change to black!

Trick 2 (Magnifier) - Hold Windows key (logo key) and R key together. Type magnify in the run box and then press Enter. This enables magnifier tool and anything near the mouse trail will now appear magnified on top!

Trick 3 (Invert Windows screen) - This is one of the scariest tricks which turns Windows upside down. You can press Ctrl, Alt and then any of the four arrow keys (Ctrl-Alt-Down will rotate screen by 180 degrees)! I have noticed that this doesn’t work on certain Windows XP machines (It is dependent on video driver).

Try to view it in hex you'll only get tons of crap you don't understand.
First off, you need Resource Hacker. It's a resource editor-

2) Unzip the archive, and run ResHacker.exe. You can check out the help file too

3) You will see that the interface is simple and clean. Go to the menu File>Open or press Ctrl+O to open a file. Browse your way to the file you would like to edit. You can edit *.exe, *.dll, *.ocx, *.scr and *.cpl files, but this tutorial is to teach you how to edit *.exe files, so open one.

4) In the left side of the screen a list of sections will appear.
The most common sections are
-String table;
-RCData;
-Dialog;
-Cursor group;
-Bitmap;
-WAV.

*Icon: You can wiew and change the icon(s) of the program by double-clicking the icon section,chossing the icon, right-clicking on it an pressing "replace resource". After that you can choose the icon you want to replace the original with.
*String table: a bunch of crap, useful sometimes, basic programming knowledge needed.
*RCData: Here the real hacking begins. Modify window titles, buttons, text, and lots more!
*Dialog: Here you can modify the messages or dialogs that appear in a program. Don't forget to press "Compile" when you're done!
*Cursor group: Change the mouse cursors used in the program just like you would change the icon.
*Bitmap: View or change images in the programs easy!
*WAV: Change the sounds in the program with your own.

5) In the RCData, Dialog, Menu and String table sections you can do a lot of changes. You can modify or translate the text change links, change buttons, etc.

TIP: To change a window title, search for something like: CAPTION "edit this".
TIP: After all operations press the "Compile Script" button, and when you're done editing save, your work @ FileSave(Save as).
TIP: When you save a file, the original file will be backed up by default and renamed to Name_original and the saved file will have the normal name of the changed program.
TIP: Sometimes you may get a message like: "This program has a non-standard resource layout... it has probably been compressed with an .EXE compressor." That means that Resource Hacker can't modify it because of its structure.

Hide in the (Network) Neighbourhood

Don't want your XP computer to show up in the network browse list (Network Neighborhood/My Network Places) to other users on your network? One way to accomplish that is to disable file sharing.

To do this, click Start, right click My Network Places and select Properties.

Right click your local area connection and click Properties.

Uncheck the box that says File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks.

Click OK.

But what if you want to be able to share folders with some users; you just don't want everyone on the network to see your computer's shares? There's a way:

Click Start and select Run.

In the Run box, type net config server /hidden:yes

Click OK.

Now others who know the UNC path (\ \ computer name\ share name) can connect to your computer's shares from the Run box, but it won't show up in the network browse list.

Access Your Folders From Your Taskbar

This is an easy way to get to the folders on your system without having to open a Windows Explorer Window every time you want to access files. I find it very useful to have this feature as it allows me to access my Folders and Drives immediately and saves me a lot of time.

1. Right Click an empty spot on your Taskbar (Between your Start Button and your System Tray).
2. Click Toolbars.
3. Click New Toolbar.
4. A Small Window will Open that allows you to pick the folder you wish to make a Toolbar. If you want to access your Desktop Without having to minimize all your windows. Just Pick Desktop. If you want to access ONLY your My Documents Folder, Select that. Any folder will work for this.
5. Click OK.
The New Tool bar will appear at the bottom of your screen next to your System Tray.

If you find this to be not useful, Repeat Steps 1 and 2 and then check click the Toolbar you created that has a check mark next to it. And it will disappear.

Bulk Editing Of .xxx to .zip or .mp3

Lets us say you have just download a new album or game
but all the files are .xxx and you need them to be
zip's, rar's, mp3's etc.....
then do the following

-create a new folder
-put all the files needing editing in the new folder
-then goto "run" in the start menu
-type in CMD and click ok

-the next thing needs a few bits of old DOS commands
-you need to navigate CMD to the folder where the files are
-you can do this by first getting the total address of the folder
-and then typing it in cmd with a "cd" in front

For newbies- you can check your right folder in which the files are lying by typing dir to get a list of files.

Add / Remove Items from New Menu in Windows

In Windows, whenever we right-click on Desktop or Explorer, we get “New” menu which contains shortcuts for various known file types. We can easily create new files using this handy “New” menu.

Sometimes we may want to remove a few unwanted items from “New” menu or we may want to add a few necessary items to “New” menu which are not present. So in this tutorial, I’ll tell you how can you add / remove items to / from “New” menu:

A. To Add an Item in “New” menu:

1. Open regedit and expand “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT” key.
2. Now look for the file type which you want to add in “New” menu, e.g. for adding MP3 file type look for .MP3 key.
3. Right-click on it and select “New -> Key” and give it name “ShellNew“.
4. In right-side pane, right-click and select “New -> String Value“. Give it name “NullFile” and press Enter.
5. Thats it. You’ll immediately get the file type entry in “New” menu.

B. To Remove an Item from “New” menu:

1. Open regedit and expand “HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT” key.
2. Now look for the file type which you want to remove from “New” menu, e.g. for removing MP3 file type look for .MP3 key.
3. Expand it and delete the “ShellNew” key.
4. Thats it. The file type will be removed from “New” menu.

THE TRIPLE CLICK TRICK

No, you don't have to know how to skate or dance to do this...

Selecting text can be a fiddly experience, especially if you are using a portable computer with an input device that doesn't work as well as a traditional mouse. So, when you want to cut and paste or copy and paste text, try the triple click. The results vary slightly from one program to another, but most often a single click locates the cursor in the text you are pointing to, a second click highlights the word, and a third click expands the highlighting to the entire paragraph.

Ofcourse, you can try this trick in this paragraph... hit mouse button three times...

This is much faster and more convenient than trying to drag the pointer over a paragraph. After you have highlighted your text, remember to use the right mouse button to access the shortcuts to "cut," "copy" and "paste." There is no point in clicking buttons at the top of the screen or bringing down the Edit menu when the functions you need are right at your finger tip...

Its pretty simple Creating the playlist create a playlist of your favourite songs in Winamp, WMP or any other player. Export the playlist as a M3U playlist. M3U is generally accepted by almost every player.

Triggering the alarm point to start> programs >accessories > system tools >scheduled tasks Create a new task and choose program as windows media player or winamp (May work with others too but I haven’t tried anything else) Choose “daily”, Enter the time and choose “every day” at next screen. It would now ask for password (leave blank in case you don’t have one) Right click on the newly created task and check the “run only if logged in” check box. In the properties. Append the path to the playlist you created in the “run” text box. It should now look like Code:

Terminal Services - Allows users to connect interactively to a remote computer. Remote Desktop and Terminal Server depend on this service. If you don't use either of these, then you can disable the service.

6. Click on Move and select the new location you just created

We all know how to change a sound when window starts. But what if we want to create a Custom sound event. What if we like to add a sound whenever a program is opened? Just imagine how good it would be to add a sound whenever Firefox starts, After all sometimes it takes long to open.
To add a custom sound effect, you need to open your registry, and please do not forget to back up your registry before making any changes.

1. Go to Start –> Run, type Regedit

3. Right Click on Apps, New –> Key
4. Name the key with the programs EXE file, like Firefox for Firefox, Winword for Office word, without the extension
5. Now on right pane, right click Default, and click Modify and type in the same application name

- Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to a number like 30. This will allow it to make 30 requests at once.
- Now, right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0?. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

Google Chrome is an excellent software and apparently it looks like it doesn’t need any tweaks to improve its already good performance. Anyway, for those of you guys who are always looking for good stuff to improve your software beyond its limit, here is a list of useful tricks or hacks:

1. Control + Shift + N : Opens the famous “incognito” windows. Thanks to it you will be able to surf without leaving any footprint on your PC (cookes, history etc.)

2. You can also open a website in an “incognito” window by right-clicking on a link and selecting: Open link in incognito window.

3. Alt + Home : Loads your Google Chrome home page along with thumbnails of your most visited sites.

4. Control + T : Opens a new Tab.

5. Control + Shift + T : Opens your most recently closed tab. Press this key combination again to open the tab closed before the one you just opened.

6. Control + 1, Control + 2, Control + 3, etc. : Lets you jump to different tabs.

7. Control + Tabs : Lets you open tabs in order.

8. As in Fireofx 3, you can drag a link onto a tab to it , or drop it between two tabs to open a new tab.

9. Control +B : Hides or shows the bookmark’s bar.

10. Control + H : Opens the History page.

11. Control + J : Opens the download page.

12. To delete an item from the download page, right-click on the selected item and click Remove.

13. Right-click the top of the browser window, select Task manager to find out how much memory tabs and plug-ins are taking from your computer to work. Select one of them and click End process to stop it running.

14. About:plugins (write it in the address bar): Lets you see what plug-in you are using.

15. About:crash (write it in the address bar): Lets you see what a crashed tab looks like.

How to protect NTFS files and directories

NTFS is the secure file system used by NT. Note that the program here can undermine NTFS security.

A. When you right click on a file in Explorer and select properties (or select Properties from the File menu) you are presented with a dialog box telling you information such as size, ownership etc. If the file/directory is on a NTFS partition there will be a security tab, and within that dialog, a permissions button. If you press that button you can grant access to users/groups on the resource at various levels.

There are six basic permissions
* R - Read
* W - Write
* D - Delete
* X - Execute
* P - Change Permissions
* O - Take Ownership

These can be assigned to a resource, however they are grouped for ease of use

* No Access - User has no access to the resource
* List - R User can view directory and filenames in directory
* Read - RX User can read files in directory and execute programs
* Add - WX User can add files to the directory, but cannot read or change the contents of the directory
* Add & Read - RWX User has read and add permissions
* Change - RWXD User has read, add, change contents and delete files
* All - RWXDPO User can do anything she wants!

The permissions above can all be set on a directory, however this list is limited for a file, and permissions that can be set are only No Access, Read, Change and Full Control.

Another permission exists called "Special Access" (on a directory there will be two, one for files, one for directories), and from this you can set which of the basic permissions should be assigned.

1. Download VLC Media Player and install it.

2. Run VLC media player, go to Settings->preferences->Interface->General, then click on wxWindows. Remove the tick on "Taskbar" and put a tick on "Systray icon".

3. Now go to Video->Output Modules->DirectX. On the bottom right put a tick on advanced options check box. You will now see some options. Put a tick on "Enable Wallpaper Mode".

4. Now, select playlist, then click General and put a check or tick on "Repeat current item".

5. Press the Save button. Now close the vlc player and run it again (to save the settings permanently).

Curious why when you buy an iPod, computer hard drive, or memory stick there is less memory actually available then what was advertised?

For example, you buy a new laptop, advertised having 100GB of hard drive space, actually only seems to have 93GB available? It almost seems as if there is false advertising involved. I'm sorry to say, this isn't the case, rather just a tricky usage of terminology used by memory manufactures. Let me try to explain...

You see, digital data is of binary numbers. 1's and 0's, also called bits. A group of eight (8 bits) 1's or/and 0's describe what is known as a byte. There are hence, 256 different values for a byte. ie: 00000000, 00000001, 00000010, 00000011, ... 11111110, 11111111. Digital memory is measured in the number of bytes, although it can also be described in bits.

This is where it gets a bit more confusing....

Just as with our decimal number system, when a very large binary number needs to be described, such as 123,456,789 Bits, we can use Metric prefixes (Kilo, Mega, Giga) to simplify things for us.

For example, 123,456,789 Bits is also equal to ~ 123.46 Megabits or 123,456.89 Kilobits.

Mega = Million
Kilo=Thousand
Giga=Billion

This is how hard drive manufactures define memory sizes. Pretty easy, right? Well, sorta, this is where it gets a bit complicated.

Since the start of computers, it has been common practice to define computer memory in powers of two, since computer memory is binary. For computer programmers, this is, for one reason or another, more practical and accepted.

2^1=2
2^8=256
2^10=1024

1000 is not a power of 2. 1024 is however. Since 1000 and 1024 are close to the same in value, to use the metric prefix 'Kilo' to define 2^10 just became accepted. Overtime, memory sizes grew. Mega came to define 1024 Kilos, or 1024x1024. Giga came to describe 1024 x 1024 x 1024... or 1,073,741,824. A bit different than 1,000,000,000 that we are accustomed Mega meaning

Windows, MacOS, the iPod, as well as other devices and software, assume 1 kilobyte = 1024 byte. Hard drive manufactures, not liking this measurement system, have decided to define 1 kilobyte as 1000 bytes. 24 bytes smaller than what is actually considered a Kilobyte, making their storage devices and hard drives seem to have more memory on them then what is actually understood to be there. They are technically correct with their labelling, but it is using the abnormal definition of what a Kilobyte is considered.

How do you distinguish between the two? Some have tried to define a difference by capitalizing one and not the other, but that idea seems to have failed in implementation. Capitilization does seem to work though in regards to differentiating between bits and Bytes though. Some add an extra letter to help define it, such as GiB, but it seems to be uncommon.

Generally, hard drives and most memory devices use the 1000 definition, and everyone else uses 1024 to define a kilo. Until that changes, that is just a fact we will all have to deal with.

Go to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT, and look at the winsat.log.This was the error message

It appears to mean that around the time it tried to play a test media file,it failed.Go to C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT. Try to play the files winsatencode.wmv and winsat.wmv using your default media player in windows vista. Do they Play?If so, try this. In C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT, rename the folder DataStore to OldDatastore, and try running the Update My Score again.

Is Windows Media Player 11 is the default player for .wmv files on your Windows Vista computer?Yes, both files are only about a second long, winsatencode.wmv seems to play even faster than the other, and ends abruptly. As long as Windows Media Player played it, and didn't freeze or crash, things should be okay. To check the file, try running the System File Checker. To do this, right click on Command Prompt (Start Menu\Programs\Accessories), and choose Run as Administrator.Copy the following, and Paste it after the prompt:

sfc /SCANFILE="C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\winsatencode.wmv"

Press Enter. Then do the same for the other file:

sfc /SCANFILE="C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT\winsat.wmv"

Press Enter. If things are okay and you are given the text message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations", or that it found errors and they were corrected, proceed to renaming the folder DataStore to OldDatastore, under C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT, and try running the Update My Score again.

Did you try renaming the DataStore folder under C:\Windows\Performance\WinSAT to OldDatastore? If that didn't work, rename it back to DataStore. Open the DataStore folder, and create a New Folder within the DataStore folder. Cut and Paste, or Drag, all the XML Documents (.xml files) in DataStore into the New Folder. Drag the New Folder to your desktop. Then try to update your score. If this doesn't work, move the .xml files back as they were, and delete the empty New Folder. If it does work, delete the New Folder, and all the files in it.

It's a fact that the Windows Experience Index Score doesn't affect how your Windows Vista computer runs. The only caveat I'm aware of is that you can't turn on the Aero theme unless your Windows Vista computer meets a certain criteria of the Windows Experience Index.

This is a list of all components installed at the moment. I've taken the example of MSN Messenger - the program entry called 'msmsgs', third-last line. You can see the word 'hide' highlighted - this is the string which tells Windows not to display the component in the Add/Remove Programs list. Fix this up by simply deleting the word 'hide' like so:

When you want to select multiple files in Windows Explorer, you can hold down the [Ctrl] key as you click on each file. If the files are in consecutive order, you can select the first file, hold down the [Shift] key and select the last file. However, when using either of these techniques, it’s easy to slip up and have to start all over. In Windows Vista there’s a way to put check boxes next to each file in Windows Explorer. As such, you can select files for regular file management operations just like you would select files in many backup programs.

To enable this feature, launch Windows Explorer, press the [Alt] key to toggle the Menu Bar on, pull down the Tools menu, and select Folder Options. When you see the Folder Options dialog box, select the View tab. Then, under the Advanced Settings scroll down to the bottom of the list and select the Use Check Boxes To Select Items check box. Click OK to complete the operation.

Now, when you hover your mouse pointer over the files in Windows Explorer, a check box will momentarily appear next each file as you move past it. If you select the check box, it will remain next to the file and the file will be selected. You can continue selecting files in this manner until you’ve selected all that you want, as shown in Figure. You’ll also notice that there is a check box in the Name column header. If you select that particular check box, all the files in that folder will be selected.

As you can see, in addition to informing you that your copy of Windows Vista is indeed licensed, it also gives you your edition, tells how you acquired it (Retail or OEM) and even shows you a partial product key. While you can't tell in this screen shot, it’s only the last five characters in your product key.

It allows a user to access a virtual drive stored in a Gmail e-mail account by causing the contents of the Gmail account to appear as a new network share on the user's workstation. In order to use this add-on, the user needs a Gmail e-mail account. The add-on enables the user to use the standard Windows desktop file copy and paste commands to transfer files to and from the Gmail account as if it were a drive on the user's computer.

In order for GMail Drive to operate, the computer must be connected to the Internet and the user must have a Gmail account. A broadband connection is preferable though not necessary, as all operations are done through Gmail and consequently over the Internet. GMail Drive uses the inbox of the Gmail account to store files and creates a virtual filesystem on top of the Gmail account, enabling the user to save and retrieve files stored on the Gmail account directly from inside Windows Explorer. NTFS enabled USB Drives are write-able only on one PC and becomes read only on all other PCs. Hence, we can read and write on our own PC and transfer files to elsewhere without any fear of virus.

In XP, only FAT and FAT32 file systems are available in format options, use the below steps to format in NTFS File System.

1). Insert USB drive in your PC

3). Select Disk Drives and expand

5). Goto policies tab and select Optimize for performance and press OK

Quik Widows tricks

One of the things which are never too fast is the computer speed. Everybody complains, there are a lot of programs that promise us help, but in reality, they have a very small influence, if any.
Yet, there are two things you can do in order to get rid of have the sensation of the computer moving a bit faster (I am not sure it gains some speed, but I feel like saving time by not viewing those annoying messages all the time):

1. Deactivate the suggestions given by Windows in the shape of yellow balloons

You already know those messages. You have seen them a hundred times before. They tell you that “Your local area connection is now connected” or other useful, well-known bit of info. To get rid of them, just do the following:

- click on Start, then press R to enter the run command

- type regedit in the small popup window that opened

- press Enter to execute the command

- to disable the messages for all users on the computer: double click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

- to disable messages only for your user, double click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER

- double click successively on Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Explorer, Advanced

- right-click on an empty space in the lower part of the current window, then select New and DWORD value

- Type in: EnableBalloonTips and press Enter to confirm

Attention: make sure you use the upper and lower case exactly like that, otherwise it will not work
- Reboot your computer

2. Deactivate error reporting function
When you forcibly shut down an application, you get the message “Please tell Microsoft about this problem”, which you never do (at least, I never did it). If you don’t use it, you can deactivate the function like this:

- Press the keys “Windows” and Pause simultaneoulsy, in order to access System Properties.

- Click on Advanced, then on Send Error Report

- In the next window, check the option Disable error reporting, then uncheck But notify me when critical errors occur

- Click OK to close all open windows

Since all of that toolbar’s features are also found on the context menu for the tabs, you can save space by turning that option off and right-clicking the tabs instead.

Recently I tried to play the game GODFATHER on my desktop.But it always gives error Pixel Shader not supported and Graphic Card not compatible.So I looked around Mr.Google for the error and he told me about 3D Analyze.

3d analyze is a Graphics Card Emulator(a nice little Software) that can emulate all the feature of a 3d graphics card like pixel shader 1.1, 1.4, 2.0, bump maps and a lots of stuff. If a game stops running on your system just because u don't have a graphics card, don't worry 3d analyze will do it for you.So it is very useful for running games whose requirements are greater than your computer specifications. It uses power of central processing unit to do emulation.

3D analyzer can emulate options like emulate TnL caps,Enable Pixel shader 1.4,etc.It also allows you to emulate you graphic card.You can choose NVidia or ATI Radeon according to your game requirements.

To run any any game using 3D analyzer you have to follow these steps:

Download latest 3D analyzer 2.36 . Click Here.
Run 3D Analyzer.exe
Now click on "SELECT" button, search and open the main executable of the game you want to play. If you don't know file path just do a right click on game shortcut icon (it's usually on desktop or in Programs folder of "Start" menu) and select "Properties", then "Search destination".
Emulating lacking hardware feature with 3D-Analyze:If your video card hardware features don't match DirectX based favourite game's minimal system requirements - you can look for those reading on game box and/or game readme.txt file - try to emulate those "moving" your graphics board into minimal category necessary to play it. Following are main 3D-Analyze settings to check if you want emulate a DirectX version starting from previous one.
The text box VendorID and DeviceID are useful if the game won't work again and it will show error message unsupported video card.It emulate the video card with NVidia or ATI Rademon.
Filling these fields with values written in group box labeled DirectX Device ID's, it will make your game to use your video card like a different one.So if you want to your graphic card to be of Nvidia than change DeviceID from 0 to 1.
At last click on "RUN" button, then the game will begin; of course correct execution isn't ensured because 3D-Analyze can't perfectly substitute hardware lacks. However, higher success probability cases are from DirectX <>

Van Damme watches his brother get paralysed for life after fighting a vicious Muay Thai fighter Tong Po. He is (supposedly) a non-fighter at the start of the movie and must learn to kick down palm trees and have coconuts dropped on his stomach from great heights to beat Tong Po in a revenge fight. Really manly stuff, I’m sure you’ll agree!

I’ve always wanted to crash a wedding and live it up like Vince and Owen! Somehow, I don’t think it would work in real life. Nevertheless, this movie is great and there is some fabulous gratuitous boobage at the beginning to get the party started!

Another adrenaline fulled action-fest starring Jason Statham. This time he’s a drug dealer by the name of Chev who has been injected with a poison that will kill him if his heart rate drops. Sex, drugs, violence and electric shock treatment are the only things keeping him alive long enough to find out who’s behind it and seek his revenge before the poison kills him. It’s a bloke movie! He also has sex with Amy Smart right in the middle of the street. Something I’m sure a lot of guys would love to do!
Best line in the movie: “Yea, yeah, you’re gonna rape my grandmother, then you’re gonna do her in, blah, blah, fucking blah!”

Johnny Depp stars in a true story about the drug dealer George Jung who established the American cocaine market in the 70’s.

Awesome movie starring Swayze as a bouncer hired to sort out a rough bar. Things get heated with the local bad guy and you can guess the rest. The kicker for me was when Swayze ripped a guys throat out. Literally.

In a nutshell, this film is about Tom Cruise flinging bottles of vodka and stuff up in the air and catching it. Don’t try it at home though, it’s not as easy as it looks. After getting through £100 worth of Smirnoff bottles, I should know!

A mid-air heist goes wrong, leaving suitcases full of money scattered over the Rocky Mountains. Former rescue climber Gabe Walker attempts a rescue on the mountain, not knowing that the people he’s helping are actually the very criminals who stole the money!

72. Under Siege

Former Navy Seal Steven Seagal stars as the chef on a US Navy battleship which is taken over by some very bad people. Obviously, in true Seagal style, he proceeds to eliminate them in an attempt to save the day. Worthy of note is the stripper with the large jugs who helps him out.
Best line in the movie: “I’m just a cook.”

73. Old School

Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell are three middle-aged men looking to recapture their youth by starting their own fraternity. As the movie strapline says; all the fun of college, none of the education.

74. Unforgiven

A retired gunslinger from the Old West takes on one last job when a bounty is put on a gang of cowboys who murdered a prostitute. An amazing portrayal of the fine line between being a hero and being a villain. The fact this film won 4 Oscars proves it’s worth the watch!
Best line in the movie: “It’s a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.”

A group of young gunmen lead by Billy the Kid become deputies to avenge the murder of the rancher who became their benefactor. But when Billy takes their authority too far, they become the hunted.

79. Unleashed

Jet Li is raised into behaving like a dog. When the collar comes off, he is unleashed and destroys anyone who gets in his way! When he eventually gets free of fatty Bob Hoskins and his gang, they come looking for their secret weapon.

80. Face/Off

Snazzy gangster flick written and directed by Guy Ritchie. Jason Statham is great, as is Brad Pitt - when you can understand what the hell he’s saying, of course. When you combine boxing, violent bookies, a russian gangster, incompetent robbers and supposedly Jewish jewelers all fighting to track down a diamond, you know you’re watching a good flick.
Best line in the movie: “Good dags. D’ya like dags?”

43. Pulp Fiction

An all-star cast brought together by Quentin Tarantino intertwines four tales of violence and redemption featuring two mob hitmen, a boxer, a gangsters wife and a pair of diner bandits. Oh, and the most awesome wallet ever made!

Hey, another movie about an unstable Vietnam war vet who goes crazy! John Rambo is as badass as they come. And remember, they drew first blood. Not him. Unbelievably, Stallone is now in his 60’s and yet he still managed to knock another Rambo movie out!

46. Indiana Jones

Archaeologist Indiana Jones confronts snakes, Nazis, and goes from one astonishing cliff hanger to the next in this awesome adventure movie.

It doesn’t matter which Lethal Weapon movie you see. Riggs and Murtaugh are cops looking to prevent crime wherever they go. Plenty of witty lines and action and, if I remember correctly, you get to see bare breasts courtesy of Patsy Kensit in Lethal Weapon 2.
Best line in the movie: “Your baby is having my baby. And your baby, woah baby!”

51. The Empire Strikes Back

Luke Skywalker takes some advanced Jedi training from the short green bloke. Talks weird, he does. While that’s going on Darth Vader is after Luke’s friends as part of a plan to capture Lukey-boy.

52. Fast And The Furious

An undercover cop, a gang of thieves, fast cars and loose women is a combination for greatness. Combine that with Vin Diesel’s muscular performance, and you’ve got a classic guy film. The only down side, of course, is that Paul Walker is the star when he clearly cannot act. At all.

54. Gladiator

A proper man’s man film about a Roman gladiator. It doesn’t get much more manly than that. The battle for power between the hero and the evil Emperor leads to a final battle - to the death!

Big Arnie grows from a boy to a man in this loin-cloth wearing epic movie as he fights to avenge the massacre of his tribe. I’m pretty sure Arnold’s breasts aren’t the only ones on show in this movie - so it’s a definite watch!

57. Point Break

One of my all time favourite movies. FBI agent Johnny Utah goes undercover with some surfer dudes to foil a bank robbery gang headed up by Dirty Dancing dude Patrick Swayze. Adrenaline fuelled adventure and some nudity courtesy of that broad who starred in Tank Girl.
Best line in the movie: “Listen you snot-nose little shit, I was takin’ shrapnel in Khe Sanh when you were crappin’ in your hands and rubbin’ it on your face.”

58. Superbad

This film will have you laughing from start to finish without a doubt. Seth and Evan are looking to score before heading off to different colleges and a string of hilarious events seem to be preventing them from doing the deed. I’m laughing just thinking about this movie!
Best line in the movie: “You know when you hear girls say ‘Ah man, I was so shit-faced last night, I shouldn’t have fucked that guy?’ We could be that mistake!”

59. Mean Machine

A former footballing legend goes to prison and has to train up a team of con’s to play football against the prison guards. The genre has been done before with The Longest Yard, but this film is about proper football which instantly makes it better than any Yank movie. Best parts for me are Jason Statham as the psycho goalie, and Danny Dyer as the idiot who gets picked on constantly!
Best line in the movie: Bob: “He must be ambidextrous, Bob.” Bob: “I don’t know about that, Bob. But he certainly can use both feet.”

60. Gone In 60 Seconds

There isn’t much more manly (and completely illegal, kids) than stealing cars. Now if you ever get into the position to steal a car while getting friendly with Angelina Jolie - I’d advise you to take your opportunity!

Two blokes working in a convenience store who spend all day annoying customers, discussing movies and playing hockey on the roof. Typical guy stuff. I thought I’d hate this film, but it turns out that I really liked it.

22. Highlander

When you watch a film about immortal beings who can only die if someone chops their head off with a sword - you’re going to be entertained. Back in the day, this film was awesome. Today, well…..it’s still awesome!

Exhibitionist Mel Gibson flashes his tackle to his enemies on the battlefield and leads rampant Jocks’ to glory. Well, almost. Brilliant and entertaining film.

Classic 80’s comedy about a bunch of high school kids looking to get laid for the first time! Another classic comedy in a similar vein to Porky’s. Now, call me crazy, but I’ve never once had the urge to stick my wang in an apple pie! To each their own, I guess.

34. Dog Day Afternoon

The robbery should have taken 10 minutes. 4 hours later, the bank was like a circus sideshow. 8 hours later, it was the hottest thing on live T.V. 12 hours later, it was all history. Pacino’s best work, short of Scarface and Godfather Part II.

35. Swordfish

Travolta owns in this film. The opening speech is just brilliant and sets the mood for the rest of the movie. Extremely predictable twist, but you do get to see Halle Berry’s breasts in all their glory.

36. Ferris Buellers Day Off

This movie practically shaped my teenage years. Faking illness to get out of school became an art form for millions after Ferris Bueller taught us the way. Also, the film inspired a bunch of no-hopers to create a new rock band, called Save Ferris. They are quite successful.

37. Ronin

Robert “Are You Talkin’ To Me?” De Niro stars in this action packed movie about a group of outcast specialists whose services are available to everyone - for a price. So, are you talking to me?

38. Taxi

Whenever I get a taxi, they always seem to take friggin’ ages to get me where I need to go because I’m on the meter! Not pizza delivery boy Daniel, though. If cruising around in a souped up Peugeot 406 taxi is your cup of tea, this movie has what you need. Who knew the French could make a decent film, eh?

A mentally unstable war vet with an urge to violently lash out works as a night time taxi driver attempting to save a teenage prostitute in the process!

2. Terminator

Originally offered the leading human role in this movie, Arnold Schwarzenegger decided that playing a bad ass robot sent from the future to kill was his destiny. And so he swapped swimming trunks, body lotion and homoerotic poses for a leather jacket, a gun and some black shades.

3. Die hard

Nothing says hardcore like a hero running around on broken glass in bare feet and smashing through windows on a firehose. Bruce Willis literally wrote the book when it comes to action (we’ll forgive his mild indiscretion for playing a dead guy in the Sixth Sense).

4. The Last Boy Scout

5. Top Gun

When the lead character has a butch name like Maverick, it doesn’t matter that he’s being portrayed by short-arse Tom Cruise. This movie will make you feel the need, the need for speed. Guy’s love planes. In particular, planes than can shoot other planes right out of the sky!
Best line in the movie: “And if you screw up just this much, you’ll be flying a cargo plane full of rubber dog shit out of Hong Kong!”

6. The Matrix

How many computer hacker nerds wish that they were Neo? Living inside a computer program and able to remake the code anyway they like. With bullet dodging, kung-fu and Trinity in tight leather pants - this movie caters to all tastes!
Best line in the movie: “Do not try and bend the spoon. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.”

7. Back To The Future

If a time traveling Delorean doesn’t get you into a frenzy, then I don’t know what will. The BTTF Trilogy still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up to this day - if only for the amazing soundtrack by Alan Silvestri.

8. Scarface

When a Cuban refugee falls for a drug kingpin’s girl, you know you have all the hallmarks of an epic gangster flick. If you get attacked by a chainsaw and still live to tell the tale, then you’re alright in my book!

9. The Godfather

Quite possibly the ultimate bloke film ever made. Francis Ford Coppola’s masterpiece is an indispensable guide to surviving with honour in a dog eat dog world.

10. Platoon

A gritty and emotional (I know I said men don’t like it too serious but this is a war film, so it’s allowed) look at the lives of an American platoon of soldiers as they patrol, fight and die in jungles of Vietnam - seen through the eyes of a rookie recruit.
Best line in the movie: “Free your mind, your ass will follow.”

11. Universal Soldier

Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren kill each other in battle, only to brought back as reanimated, near perfect, soldiers. Luc Devreux (Van Damme) starts having flashbacks from his former life and brutal conflict ensues. The only acceptable time for you to turn away while this movie is playing is for the gratuitous Van Damme butt shot (unless you like that kind of thing)!
Best line in the movie: “You’re discharged… sarge.”

12. The Shining

In a nutshell - recovering alcoholic with a volatile temper gets cabin fever and tries to kill his family. To say the film is ‘a bit weird’ would be the understatement of the century. That said, the movie is a masterpiece and a must see - if only for the iconic horror movie quote:

13. Fight Club

After seeing this film, a million men declared they wanted to change their name to Tyler Durden and go kick the shit out of someone. Anyone! On the surface, the movie is about proving your manliness by punching the other guys lights out, but really it’s all about knowing yourself and not relying on personal possessions. I think.
Best line in the movie: “I want you to hit me as hard as you can.”

14. Dirty Harry

A cop with no regard for the rules (but who always gets the job done) takes on a serial killer targeting random victims. It’s very serious stuff folks. Oh, and he has a big gun too.

15. Rocky

The Italian Stallion, Rocky Balboa, is a southpaw fighter out of Philadelphia looking to make it big by taking on the world champ Apollo Creed. The training montages and music are enough to make you wanna lose that beer belly - almost!

16. Full Metal Jacket

If you ever wondered what it was like to be a U.S Marine - then wonder no more! This movie has more memorable quotes than any other, thanks mostly to the enigmatic Gunnery Sergeant Hartman.

17. Bullitt

Not so many years ago, we had to excuse ourselves for the red eyes, vampire style, everybody had in their photos. Do you remember how we had to wait in front of a great cathedral, in order to take a photo without embarrassing tourist heads at the bottom? Photo editors were then expensive, so not everybody afforded one. The situation changed lately, with more and more open source programs and other freeware things made available online. I’m presenting you a few choices of free photo editors which can help you improve your pictures and make them look more stylish:

1. GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)

GIMP is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages, and their official site contains a lot of tutorials and a list of books.

What you can do with GIMP (these are only a few of its capabilities):

Change the size of an image
Make jpegs smaller
Crop images
Transform images: flip, rotate, apply a perspective
Remove red eyes (there’s a special tool only for that)
Transform your photo into a pen and ink watercolor like image

Offered by FreeSerifSoftware, PhotoPlus 6 is an easy to use photo editor, with a nice interface. It has a number of built in functions which will make it very convenient for people who don’t know anything about photography editing:
Creative tools for enhancing your images: paintbrush, airbrush, clone, smudge and erase, plus adjustable brush settings (size, shape, softness and fade).

Layer Effects: by using the layer manager, you’ll make changes to your images without affecting the originals.

Amongst the effects you can apply to an image (or to a part of it at your choice) there are: Twirl, Seawave, Fingerprints, Fish Eye, or built-in distortions like skew, slant, twist, slice or dice.

4. Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.2

Both photo organizer and editor, Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition offers all the functions required for fixing the flaws of your photos. Using its organizer features, you can find any photo in a snap with automatic organization that lets you view all of your digital photos in one place using a familiar calendar view. However, this would not be my choice of software, because of its aggresivity: I did not pay too much attention at installation, and I have activated a feature which attempts to collect and organize picture files from any CD of USB key I insert into my computer. Not being able to spot at once how to deactivate this thing, I uninstalled the whole application, because I want to be the one who decides when and where and how to import pictures into my computer (which is quite old and has limited storage capacities).

5. Picasa

Free photo editor and organizer from Google, Picasa offers pretty much the same function as other free photo editors do, plus the capability to share your photos with others through email, prints and on the web. Picasa’s Basic Fixes are buttons which allow you to crop, remove red eye, or fix the contrast and colour. 12 new visual effects are available, plus, you can fine-tune your photos with Picasa’s EXIF display. This window shows you all the camera data that is stored in a picture’s original file - such as camera model, date the photo was taken, even if a flash was used. The EXIF display also has a RGB histogram, a real-time graph that shows the intensity of colours in your picture and how they change when you make edits in Picasa.

6. Paint.net

Open source and free, Paint.net has all features of a good photo editor. Many special effects are included, from blurring, sharpening, red-eye removal, distortion, to noise and embossing are. The 3D Rotate/Zoom effect makes it very easy to add perspective and tilting. Paint.NET includes a curve tool for drawing splines or Bezier curves, a Gradient tool, the popular Magic Wand for selecting regions of similar color and the Clone Stamp, which allows you to duplicate areas of an image at your choice (this is how you can get rid of electricity wires on your beautiful skies, for example).

7. MyImager.com

The difference between this photo editor and the previously presented ones is that myImager is an online tool. This means you don’t have to download and install anything on your computer, in order to get your photos fixed. It has a lot of predefined effects which you can apply to your pictures, but I found it rather uncomfortable, because when I did my first wrong move, it took me some time to figure out how to undo it (it’s simple after you see where the button is). Besides, all those moving advertising banners managed to distract me. However, I see myImager.com suitable for situations in which I cannot use my own computer, such as from hotel lobbys or from internet cafes. If you want to blog about yout travels while you are taking them, this is a good choice to get your photos adjusted before you publish them on your blog. The maximum size of the photo files is 500kB.

8. Auto-Photo-Editor
This is a shareware software for your batch photo editing converter. It allows you to convert multiple photo/image files at the click of a button. You can batch resize, rotate, stamp text on your images and convert format to others. You can set up your computer to run the batch file on a schedule and leave the routine image processing tasks to Auto Photo Editor. This is very useful for people who like to send their photos by email and see themselves in the situation to work hours to reduce the size of those photos one by one.

Auto Phto Editor works only with Windows 98/ME/2K/2K3/XP/Vista. If after the trial period you decide to buy it, the basic version costs $49.59, which the PRO version costs $69.95.

9. IrfanView
IrfanView is a very fast, small, and compact freeware (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista. Some of its features are:

Whatever you choose, if you think that later on you could advance to professional photo editing, it would be better to buy your professional photo editing software from the very beginning. Do you know why? Because once you get used to the menus of a particular software, you’ll find it very difficult to accomodate with the new ones. This happened to me when I switched from Macromedia Fireworks to Photoshop: although basic commands are the same, the differences are enough to drive me crazy. I wish I started directly with Photoshop (if you can’t afford it, you could consider Photoshop Elements, which costs less than $200).
